The Pottsgrove High School Life Skills class participates in the "Support Our Troops" coupon program.  The students cut, check dates and organize coupons that are sent to our military troops world-wide. We began our involvement during the 2014-15 school year.  During the 2015-16 school year, we saved our military families $21,696.65.  They increased their goal for the following year and achieved a total of $49,929.11!  This year, our class has a goal of sending at least $60,000 in coupons.  The students are excited to help fellow Americans!

Financial Reality Fair at the High School - Monday, October 23, 2017

Financial Reality Fair
Pottsgrove High School
Wednesday, November 8, 2017

On Wednesday, November 8th , three local credit unions (Tri County Area Federal Credit Union,  Diamond Credit Union and Citiadel), along with the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation are bringing a Financial Reality Fair to Pottsgrove High School!   This fair will take place in the gymnasium, during the school day.

The Financial Reality Fair will provide students with experiential learning and a hands-on budgeting exercise to gain practical knowledge about personal financial management in a one-day, “real world” environment. This real world exercise, designed to teach students the value of using money responsibly, instructs students to choose a career level and salary, and then budget their monthly expenses to make ends meet.   Students must find a place to live, obtain transportation, and pay for food and other essentials.

Students will visit with Fair volunteers to “purchase” goods and services needed in everyday life.  As in the real world, entertainment opportunities and other non-essential services will also be made available.  Students will have a chance to spin the “Wheel of Reality” to receive one of life’s surprises, such as an unexpected cash gift or the expense of a flat tire.  Students document their income and expenses during the exercise and must balance their budget for the month, reviewing their final budget with a Financial Counselor.

Peace Day at the High School - Monday, October 23, 2017

The Pottsgrove High School Library tries to keep their students on their toes every year, but this year they also have two fingers up.  ✌

Last year the library theme was robots. Wind up robots, solar paneled powered robots, robots built out of books...but this year the unifying idea is just this: peace. A six foot peace sign dons in the front window.  And when you walk in to the facility you can't help but bask in its symbolism. "With everything going on in the world, our district pushing our teachers to summon lessons on challenge-based learning, and getting our students thinking about projects that involve and help our community, the peace sign was 'it' this year," said Danielle Small, High School Library Media Specialist. Pottsgrove students have opportunities to be creative, to critically think, to collaborate, to construct, to research ideas, and to utilize the space around them in the library makerspace.
